This new album is the best we’ve ever done. We picked the musicians carefully, following the advice a friend once gave Hawk: “only go for the best”!

Nathaniel Townsley (Stevie Wonder)
The moment we heard Nathaniel playing on Drummer World we leaned into his sound then turned and smiled at each other. Here was our man - but would someone who’d played with Stevie Wonder be open to giving us a chance? 

We called him in Brooklyn where his family has lived for more than 3 generations and he was just the sweetest guy you could ever speak to! He said yes, and he promised to bring his bas-friend Linley Marthe.

Linley Marthe (Zawinul)
An absolutely amazing bass player from Mauritius.
Zawinul says “He can out-solo anybody. He puts down a killer groove and coaxes music out of his instrument in every possible way.” 

Raul Rekow (Santana)
Has played with Santana for more than 30 years!

Sweet Silence Studio
We made a date with our favourite studio Sweet Silence and have never regretted it! With Nat, Linley, Poul Reimann a wonderful pianist, and the sublime guitarist Aske Jacoby we recorded the basic tracks.

Recording overdubs as we had the money and possibility, with the unsurpassed Christina Boelskifte doing the harmonies. She would lay down 3-4 harmonies and triple them not to mention the ad-libs in no time flat! Wow! Christina you’re awesome babe!

We were fortunate to have the golden voice of Bobo Moreno on our single and Anders Ørsager to lay down all the other male vocals! Hans Ulrik came and graced our songs with the beauty of his melodic saxophone and Raul took care of the percussion! Bringing her back home again Flemming Rasmussen helped us mix and master our baby. Each song a pearl on a string, making the sound shine!

HAWK 2007 LOOKING FOR LOVE TOUR

It was wonderful to have one of the worlds greatest bassist with us! The one and only Linley Marthe who normally plays with Joe Zawinul. Let me tell you his reputation is well deserved! Santanas percussionist Raul Rekow is amazing live and a great guy to work with. Sandwiched between kevboard wizards Poul Reimann and Jesper Bo Hansen is a cool place to be!

Momo our drummer and Linley are both from Mauritius and gave our music a delicious flavour creating the right energy so we really hit home!

Not to forget our driver Jacob that we nearly drove crazy! There were some hair raising moments on the road when the tour car broke down on the way to a gig and the entire band had to be towed; but we took it all in stride and as long and Linley had his Black label whisky and everybody else got a hit off the bottle we all survived and played some great gigs!

We’d really like to thank all of the people and venues who supported us in many irreplaceable ways!

We (Bright&HAWK) wrote a song by the name of “Nothing About Us Without Us”, together with John Heilbrunn; leader for the International sector of the Danish Association For the Blind. The association does great work for the visually impaired in many developing countries.

We’re proud to be able to support the work he’s doing and that the economic return from the sale of this CD goes 100% to projects for the blind and visually impaired worldwide.
